because if women aren’t buying
When you take these facts into consideration, it’s no shock that the golf world has taken notice and stepped up their fashion, because if women aren’t buying, then it’s because you aren’t making something attractive to them.
At this season’s PGA Expo in Las Vegas, Annmarie Dodd, a veteran fashion reporter, and Elizabeth Noblitt, Founder and CEO of ShiShiPutter.com, hosted a session with apparel leaders and up-and-coming designers about what is influencing fashion in golf's ever-changing landscape.
Here are the keys to giving women what they want when it comes to golf apparel according to Lauren Dimen, Brand Manager from Abacus; Debbie Munoz, founder of 9&Dine; Jessica Eaves Mathews, founders of Grace & Game Golf; and Jeehee Han, founder of Evan Golf:
1. Fuss-free clothing. Women hate having to mess with their clothing on the course, especially when playing alongside men and/or in a business setting. Clothes need to be well-fitted and comfortable for women all over the golf course from climbing into a bunker to bending over to mark a ball.
2. Natural fibers. Organic cottons, washable silks, and other natural fibers like bamboo and soy that are also naturally functional, can achieve the same performance ability but without the synthetics.
3. Day to Night. It’s a nuisance to not be able to wear the same clothing throughout the golf day. Guys can wear the same clothes in many cases from the office to the course, and then to the 19th hole, women want the same “golf course to concourse” wearability in their clothing.
4. Functionality. Women’s clothes for golf still need all the performance functions kept in mind for men. A deep pocket for a yardage book and comfortable stretchable fabrics used for menswear that allow for a full range of motion shouldn’t be ignored.
5. Zen lifestyle. Yoga wear is a big trend for women’s apparel. This sporty chic zen look transfers from the yoga studio and carpool lane to the golf course.
6. Variety. Women do not want the limited cookie cutter golf options that were the way the golf industry traditionally treated fashion. Golf used to be one size/style fits all, but now different body types are considered in hem lengths, etc.
7. The Dress. This is certainly a statement for spring fashion. Love the feminine flirty but sporty golf dress.
8. Unique. Fashion and function are important, but women also want to be able to express and show off their identity through fashion.
9. Value. Women are certainly budget-conscious, but they’re also emotional buyers. With the economy, a good price tag is important, but women want special pieces and will save money to have that perfect look. So the cost-per-wear or CPW factor is huge.
10. Accessories. Ball markers on your hat or tees in your hair can give you that sporty girl look, but a fun patterned golf glove or stylish coordinating shoe adds the finishing touches to the overall look and certainly shouldn’t be ignored!

After a goalless first half
Liverpool skipper Steven Gerrard has expressed his satisfaction over the Reds 1-1 draw against Manchester United at Anfield and has stated that the draw against the English champions is ‘not the end of the world’ for the Merseyside club.
The Anfield club failed to register a record fourth consecutive win over Manchester United at home, despite starting the proceedings impressively against Sir Alex Ferguson’s defensive minded men.
After a goalless first half, the hosts managed to find a breakthrough in the 68th minute via their influential skipper, Steven Gerrard, who scored an absolutely amazing free kick.
However, the Reds’ hopes of getting all three points against Manchester United were dented when Javier Hernandez equalised with only six minutes left on the clock.
In a search of a winner, the Merseyside club pushed hard in the dying minutes, however, the hosts failed to find a breakthrough and had to settle for a draw.
Gerrard believes that Liverpool deserved to win against United, though, he asserted that a draw against reigning English champions is a not a bad result.
The Englishman told the reporters, "Our fans will feel hard done by with the chances at the end. We could have maybe nicked it but we are playing the best side in the league so I suppose a draw is not the end of the world."
Gerrard has admitted that he was lucky to get a goal and has acknowledged that United’s poor defence helped him register his first goal of the season.
"I don’t think the free kick was the best. The idea was to get it over the wall but a couple years ago at Old Trafford the same thing happened and the wall split. Maybe that’s the little bit of luck I’ve been looking for so to come back for my first 90 minutes and get a bit of luck, I’m really happy with that,” Steven Gerrard concluded.
Following the 1-1 draw at Anfield, Liverpool are currently placed fifth in the standings with 14 points from eight matches.

But above all else
The Calgary Flames did nothing to Langkow but give him some of the best times in his career for the past six seasons. Langkow also posted the best statistics of his career in this team. But this is a great move that he is doing. He is more familiar with Phoenix, where he played for three seasons before. He will reunite with his friend and also a former teammate Shane Doan. With this move, the Coyotes will have more opportunities at center.
But above all else, the most important factor here is that this is a team that wants him. Aside from the fact that the team is willing to take on his contract, which has a year left and which is equivalent to $4.5 million, Don Maloney, the general manager of the Phoenix is looking at a longer term.
It was March 21, 2010, when Daymond Langkow had to call his wife from an ambulance just to tell her not to worry and that he is fine.
Something happened that day during a play and Langkow suffered a fractured vertebra and a damaged spinal cord.
But he was very determined not to let his accident take a toll on his career.
It was not an easy road for Langkow. He may be very determined and optimistic, but he did not foresee the obstacles along the way. Almost the same time last year, Langkow thought he was doing all right and improving. But he realized the hard way that becoming 100% again after a very serious injury is not something that one can recover overnight, it takes a lot of time, a lot of work, and a lot of patience and determination.

LiberoIn
1998 the libero player was introduced internationally. The libero is a player specialized in defensive skills: the libero must wear a contrasting jersey color from his or her teammates and cannot block or attack the ball when it is entirely above net height.
When the ball is not in play, the libero can replace any back-row player, without prior notice to the officials. This replacement does not count against the substitution limit each team is allowed per set, although the libero may be replaced only by the player whom they replaced.
The libero may function as a setter only under certain restrictions. If she/he makes an overhand set, she/he must be standing behind (and not stepping on) the 3-meter line; otherwise, the ball cannot be attacked above the net in front of the 3-meter line. An underhand pass is allowed from any part of the court.
The libero is, generally, the most skilled defensive player on the team. There is also a libero tracking sheet, where the referees or officiating team must keep track of who the libero subs in and out for. There may only be one libero per set (game), although there may be a different libero in the beginning of any new set (game).
Furthermore, a libero is not allowed to serve, according to international rules, with the exception of the NCAA women's volleyball games, where a 2004 rule change allows the libero to serve, but only in a specific rotation. That is, the libero can only serve for one person, not for all of the people for whom he or she goes in. That rule change was also applied to high school and junior high play soon after.

Volleyball in the Olympics (part 2)
The U.S.S.R. won men's gold in both 1964 and 1968. After taking bronze in 1964 and silver in 1968, Japan finally won the gold for men's volleyball in 1972. Women's gold went to Japan in 1964 and again in 1976. That year, the introduction of a new offensive skill, the backrow attack, allowed Poland to win the men's competition over the Soviets in a very tight five-set match. Since the strongest teams in men's volleyball at the time belonged to the Eastern Bloc, the American-led boycott of the 1980 Summer Olympics did not have as great an effect on these events as it had on the women's. The U.S.S.R. collected their third Olympic Gold Medal in men's volleyball with a 3–1 victory over Bulgaria (the Soviet women won that year as well, their third gold as well). With the U.S.S.R. boycotting the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, the U.S. was able to sweep Brazil in the finals to win the men's gold medal. Italy won its first medal (bronze in the men's competition) in 1984, foreshadowing a rise in prominence for their volleyball teams.
At the 1988 Games, Karch Kiraly and Steve Timmons led the U.S. men's team to a second straight gold medal. In 1992, underrated Brazil upset favourites C.I.S., Netherlands, and Italy in the men's competition for the country's first volleyball Olympic gold medal. Runner-up Netherlands, men's silver medalist in 1992, came back under team leaders Ron Zwerver and Olof van der Meulen in the 1996 Games for a five-set win over Italy. A men's bronze medalist in 1996, Serbia and Montenegro (playing in 1996 and 2000 as the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia) beat Russia in the gold medal match in 2000, winning their first gold medal ever. In 2004, Brazil won its second men's volleyball gold medal beating Italy in the finals. In the 2008 Games, the USA beat Brazil in the men's volleyball final.

Volleyball in the Olympics (part 1)
The history of Olympic volleyball traces back to the 1924 Summer Olympics in Paris, where volleyball was played as part of an American sports demonstration event. After the foundation of FIVB and some continental confederations, it began to be considered for official inclusion.
In 1957, a special tournament was held at the 53rd IOC session in Sofia, Bulgaria to support such request. The competition was a success, and the sport was officially included in the program for the 1964 Summer Olympics.
The Olympic volleyball tournament was originally a simple competition: all teams played against each other team and then were ranked by wins, set average, and point average. One disadvantage of this round-robin system is that medal winners could be determined before the end of the games, making the audience lose interest in the outcome of the remaining matches.
To cope with this situation, the competition was split into two phases with the addition of a "final round" elimination tournament consisting of quarterfinals, semifinals, and finals matches in 1972. The number of teams involved in the Olympic tournament has grown steadily since 1964. Since 1996, both men's and women's events count twelve participant nations. Each of the five continental volleyball confederations has at least one affiliated national federation involved in the Olympic Games.

Professional golf with new tour
China's golf bosses have restructured the professional game in the country with a new "Greater China Tour", which will include a six-tournament circuit in place of the China Tour.
The China Tour was launched in 2005 with the aim of providing regular tournament golf for the country's professionals and, sponsored by Swiss watchmakers Omega, ran four events last year.
The China Golf Association (CGA) have replaced it with the Chinese Pro Golf Championships in a new five-tiered structure for 2010. "I am glad to tell you the China Tour is not dead. It is sill alive and even stronger," secretary general Zhang Xiaoning told the CGA's website (http://www.golf.org.cn/).
"With golf entering the Olympic Games, from 2010 on the CGA will integrate golf events in China to create the Greater China Tour," he added.
"The Chinese Pro Golf Championship is a fourth tier event of the Greater China Tour, with total prize money of $200,000 to $1 million. The 2010 Tour will have six stages, starting in early April."
The return of golf to the Olympics from 2016 has been a great boost to the state-run CGA, which can now count on greater financial support from China's sports system but will also need to produce top quality players to eventually compete for medals.
China's top player is Liang Wenchong, who has won one European Tour sanctioned event, was the 2007 Asian Tour champion and is currently ranked 85th in the world.
The higher tiers of the Greater China Tour are likely to include the four events on the fledgling OneAsia Tour in 2010, the Luxe Hills Championship, the China Open, the China Classic and Shandong Gold Cup.
China will again this year host the WGC-HSBC Champions, which is co-sanctioned by the CGA, U.S. PGA, the European and Asian Tours, South Africa's Sunshine Tour and the Australasian PGA.
The $7 million event could move from its present venue in Shanghai after 2010, although it will probably stay in China at a venue owned by the Mission Hills club in Shenzhen.

Filipino girl wins China Amateur Golf Championship
BEIJING - Ma Andrea Victoria of the Philippines put up a steady performance under a windy condition to win the women's title of the 2011 Fangshan Changyang China Amateur Golf Championship on Sunday at the Beijing California County Golf Club.
China's Wang Ziyi showed she was the title contender after hitting four bidies in the front nine but succumbed to the 16 Filipino hitting a double on Hole 14, and finished second with one stroke back for an even-par, three round total of 216 shots.
It was a sweet revenge for Andrea after she lost to Wang in the HSBC junior tournament in January.
"Wang is the player I very wanted to beat and now we are even," said Andrea, whose title at the inaugural China Amateur Golf Championship is her first in Asia's regional competition. It was her eighth tournament title of the year, but her previous victories came from either playing in the United States or in the Philippines.
"I'm very, very happy with my victory today," she said, adding she will have a family get-together after going back home with a nice dinner.
"My hands were shaking when I was putting on the Hole 18 and were still shaking when signing the score card," said an ever-smiling Andrea, adding the greens were rather treacherous. She had 31 putts on Sunday, compared to 27 on the first day on Friday.
She described herself as a steady player, ranked within in top five in the her country, never going very high and never very low. Andrea will represent the Philippines in the Southeast Asian Games next month in Jakarta.
China's Ji Rong finished third for a five-over 221 strokes.
China's national team member Li Yuan won the men's play for a six-over total of 222 shots after an even-par 72 performance on Sunday.
Li also blamed the windy condition the past two days and the treacherous greens as the reason for a not-so-good performance. "But I had wanted to win this title when I cam to participate," said 25-year-old Li, the winner of the Shanghai stop of the China Amateur Golf Futures Tour in 2010.
Second and one stroke back was Japan's Shuhei Ozaki who was 2 over on Sunday and third was Wang Xicheng three strokes further back.
Wind played havoc on overnight leader and local teen hopeful Guan Tianlang, who had a 40 on the front nine and 41 on the back for nine-over 81 on Sunday, eventually finishing sixth for a total of 229.
Fangshan Changyang 2011 China Amateur Golf Championship was being promoted as China's highest level and most open international amateur golf competition. It attracted 85 amateur golfers from home and abroad.

Which Li will we see this time?
Enjoying a Grand Slam caliber status, the annual tournament attracted all the available top 48 women players and most of the top 35 males to fight for a total $6.1 million prize money at the Beijing Olympic Tennis Center from Oct 1-9.
Although the powerful Williams sisters - Serena and Venus - and Russian sensation Maria Sharapova have already announced they are pulling out, China's Li, Danish world No 1 Caroline Wozniacki and US Open winner Samantha Stosur will battle for the event's 1,000 ranking points.
Li, the current world No 7, is keen to gain redemption at this year's last WTA mandatory tournament after suffering early exits at both Wimbledon and the US Open.
A stomach spasm hampered Li's pre-match training on Wednesday morning, while her break-up with Danish coach Michael Mortensen triggered concern as well.
Drawn in the second half with Australia's Stosur, Li isn't scheduled to face a steep challenge until a potential fight against Italian veteran Roberta Vinci in the quarterfinals.
Stosur, who upset Li in their last meeting at the Cincinnati Open, has to overcome former top ace Jelena Jankovic in the third round to encounter Li.
Li vows to improve on her personal best performance last year, which saw her reach the semifinals.
But too many commercial activities seem to have affected her form.
Li signed her ninth sponsorship contract before the China Open, increasing her total endorsement income to almost $50 million, according to web portal Sohu.com.
China's other ace, Peng Shuai, will face Italian Flavia Pennetta - who won all the pair's previous five head-to-head matches - in the opening round before a possible quarterfinal matchup with No 7 seed Francesca Schiavone of Italy. Defending champion Wozniacki's first looming threat is a potential meeting with Wimbledon semifinalist Sabine Lisicki in the quarterfinals.
The second quarter of the draw will see a fierce battle featuring
Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova, third-seeded ace Vera Zvonareva, Chinese veteran Zheng Jie and former No 1 Ana Ivanovic.
On the men's side, the reigning world No 1 and winner of three Grand Slams this year, Novak Djokovic, also withdrew due to a back injury suffered during a Davis Cup semifinal against Argentina last month.
American power hitter Andy Roddick will join Aussie wild-card holder Lleyton Hewitt and Spanish former world No 1 Juan Carlos Ferrero to fill the power void left by Djokovic and big-serving Swede Robin Soderling, who also quit with an injury.

Gritty Pennetta shocks Wozniacki to reach China Open semis
BEIJING - Italian veteran Flavia Pennetta on Friday scored a gritty victory over world number o
ne and defending champion Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark to set up a semifinal clash against Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland at the China Open.
Wozniacki took the first set routinely but faded off in the last two sets, slumping at 3-6, 6-0, 7-6 (2) to the 26th ranked Pennetta in two hours and 14 minutes.
Radwanska, seeded 11th in the elite tournament, had a much easier time of it in the quarterfinals when Serb Ana Ivanovic pulled out while trailing 6-3, 3-2, citing a back injury. The former French Open champion also retired from the Beijing Olympics three years ago on the same court.
"I love coming here and competing," said Ivanovic. "It was very tough to pull out of Olympics, and it's very tough today."
Ivanovic added she had been struggling with her back since the beginning of last week in Tokyo, and now "it hasn't been really getting much better".
The 23-year-old called two medical timeout before and during the second set of the quarterfinal, but it apparently did no good to her injury.
Radwanska, who has just been crowned at the Pan Pacific Open and thus enjoyed first round bye at the China Open, should feel comfortable after the easy match while Pennetta, making both singles and doubles semifinals, needs careful prep work.
Wozniacki, overall a defesive baseliner, dropped serve twice but broke back three times in the first set, but it was the end of her good fortunes at this year's China Open.
The 29-year-old Pennetta taught the world number one a good lesson on how to score from the baseline by hitting efficient and angled groundstrokes in the remaining time, claiming the second set at love and then storming to a 4-1 lead in the third.
Wozniacki, eight years Pennetta's junior, clawed back into contention by tying the final set at 6-all, but the Dane blew out the confidence she built earlier with a 7-2 loss in the tiebreak.
"It was a tough match and we had a lot of good relies. It's disappointing to lose, especially when you have your chances like I had," Wozniacki said after the match.
Wozniacki's knockout was just one of the many surprises that kept on coming at the $4.5 million tournament, which was marred by a string of pull-outs and upsets.
Earlier in the day, Romanian qualifier Monica Niculescu continued her career best run at the China Open with another impressive comeback win against higher ranked Russian Maria Kirilenko 3-6, 6-3, 6-4.
The 24-year-old Romanian qualifier had beaten No 4 seed and French Open champion Li Na earlier in the week and now she has reached her third and biggest WTA semifinal of her career.
In the semifinals Niculescu will face Germany's in-form star and ninth seed Andrea Petkovic, who got the better of 13th seed Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova from Russia 6-3, 7-6 (2).
In the ATP event, third seed Tomas Berdych of the Czech Republic swept past Spaniard Fernando Verdasco 6-1, 6-0 for a 6-1 lifetime record and also set up a semifinal clash against top seed Jo- Wilfried Tsonga from France, who defeated Spain's former world number one Juan Carlos Ferrero.
Croat Ivan Ljubicic needed almost three hours to dispatch Russian Mikhail Youzhny 7-6 (4), 6-7 (4), 6-2 and will in the other semifinal meet compatriot Marin Cilic, who overcame Kevin Anderson of South Africa 7-6(4), 4-6, 6-1.

The woman behind tennis' explosion
BEIJING - Not in her wildest dreams did Stacey Allaster imagine she'd make it this far.
Allaster, who began her career 40 years ago as a ball girl at a local club, is chairman and CEO of the Women's Tennis Association (WTA).
"Being the head of WTA is a great honor for me - I am privileged," Allaster said. "I love this job. It's a great feeling waking up each day. My goal is really to keep WTA as the best sport in the world."
The Canadian is in Beijing this week as part of the China Open.
Under Allaster's helm since 2009, WTA has enjoyed landmark success competitively and commercially, launching new events in untapped markets like Malaysia and Egypt, improving its financial standing and expanding its fan base worldwide.
WTA's sponsorship revenues have increased 60 percent since the end of 2010, as the organization has secured six new commercial partners while lifting global TV viewership by 28 percent.
According to a recently released Forbes list, seven of the 10 highest-paid female athletes are WTA stars.
Players ranked in the top 10 hail from nine different countries, triggering a widespread passion for the sport worldwide.
Allaster was named by Forbes as one of the most powerful women in sports.
The Toronto native shook off her individual effort, stressing the importance of the players.
"To have industry recognition is great, but what matters most to me is whether I can return a smashing success to those who entrusted their business to me.
"I give all the credit to the athletes and to our tournaments. Each day, they are delivering and proving to the sponsors that women's tennis is a good return for the investment," Allaster said.
As the first Asian Grand Slam champion, China's Li Na perfectly illustrates Allaster's "players-matter" philosophy.
Li's French Open victory, witnessed by 160 million Chinese TV viewers, opened a new era in tennis' development in China.
Numerous children were inspired to hone their skills in tennis clinics, and fans jammed local events like the China Open.
Li has joined basketball's Yao Ming and hurdler Liu Xiang as the nation's sports icons.
"We are incredibly lucky. We have invested a lot of effort to promote the sport and waited for magic to happen," Allaster said. "Li Na came along in time to capture the hearts and minds of all of the people here. To do the job that usually takes us years or decades, she just did it in such a short period. We couldn't ask for anything more exciting."
In a fast growing market, a premier event is more important than a premier player.
Boasting the combined power of local stars and world-class venues, this year's China Open was supposed to benefit the sport's profile significantly.
It hasn't worked out as hoped.
The mandatory tournament was shattered by Li's first-round exit and the withdrawals of several stars, including Russian sensation Maria Sharapova, Belgian veteran Kim Clijsters and American sisters Venus and Serena Williams.
It's been a letdown for all concerned.
"No doubt, we are all disappointed to see so many big names not here," Allaster said. "Fans would love to see those athletes, but it's really bad luck. All the players who bailed out had some troubles outside their control. We hope to have better fortune next year."
Defending US Open champion Samantha Stosur and Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova were also knocked out early, thinning the field further.
After an exhausting season, Allaster said the year-end schedule can be a difficult test for elite players.
"Even after we made improvements (to cut the calendar), there's no denying it's long," said Allaster.
Always busy as the sport's worldwide hostess, Allaster is also a mother of two.
Allaster said she appreciates her supportive husband, who gave up his own career to take care of the family.
"Behind every strong woman, there is a good man," she said.

Golf mania developing in China
With more and more Chinese people, including successful businessmen, chief executive officers and white-collar workers, developing a strong interest in golf, which is sometimes called a 'battle of wits and courage', the sport is becoming a prosperous industry in China. Shen Jingting reports.
Golf is a "green opium", joked Li Xiaoming, a 52-year-old Beijing businessman who played the sport almost every day in the year that he was most fanatical about it.
Li has been hitting the links for more than 16 years. He was the champion of the Amateur Golf Tournament in China and participated in the China Open, a men's golf tournament that has been held annually in China since 1995.
"But I was not interested in going to golf courses at all at the very beginning because I regarded it as a game for the old," Li said.
However, his friend successfully persuaded him to have a try. They went to a golf course in Hainan province and, all of a sudden, Li found himself surprised and delighted by the course's beautiful natural scenery.
"I was out of breath after I played nine holes and had to sit under a tree for a rest," Li said. Golf is not only a sport that trains people's bodies, but it is also a complicated mental exercise. "The amazing thing about golf is that it's like participating in a psychological war with your rivals. It's a battle of wits and courage."
Li spends 100,000 yuan ($15,640) a year playing golf and lost 10 kilograms during the past decade. "Although I am in my 50s, I feel no difference in terms of health from when I was young," the tanned man said.
There are a growing number of Chinese people that have developed a strong interest in golf. In Beijing there are about 65 golf courses. The capital city has seen a trend developing as increasing numbers of people go to golf clubs for both the sport and as a social activity.
The average price for playing 18 holes in Beijing is between 600 and 800 yuan but most golf clubs only allow their members to play.
The membership fee, usually between 100,000 yuan and 1.7 million yuan, tends to keep the general public away.
But even at such high prices, memberships are still eagerly sought. Bayhood No 9 Golf Club, one of the most luxurious clubs in Beijing, previously charged 1.08 million yuan for membership. It is now no longer open to new members because it risks being oversubscribed.
"During the weekends, it is really hard to make a reservation at golf clubs that lie within the Fifth Ring Road in Beijing. Usually we drive to Langfang or Zhuozhou (in Hebei province) to find a golf course which is not that crowded," said Yang Yue, a golf enthusiast.
Chang Zhihui, a researcher with the golf education and research center at Beijing Forestry University, estimated 600,000 people on the Chinese mainland are members of golf clubs. The figure is expected to increase by 20 percent every year.
Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangdong, as well as Shandong and Hainan provinces, are the top five golf destinations in China, containing about 600 golf courses in total, Chang said.
The venues coincide closely with the places where there are the highest number of millionaires in China. According to the 2011 Hurun Wealth Report co-released in April by Hurun Research Institute and GroupM Knowledge Center, Beijing was the area with the most multimillionaires. Guangdong province ranked second and Shanghai third.
The report said the number of Chinese multimillionaires was rising beyond people's expectations - about 960,000 people on the Chinese mainland are worth more than 10 million yuan, including 60,000 people worth 100 million yuan.
"In the past, golf players were usually successful businessmen and chief executive officers, but now, more and more white-collar workers are trying the sport," Chang added. If people have a monthly income of more than 10,000 yuan, they can afford some games and, therefore, become target clients of golf clubs, he said.
However, of China's huge population base of 1.34 billion, the number of Chinese golf players accounts for less than 0.1 percent. In some developed countries, such as the United States, the figure is 10 percent across its total population.
"That indicates an enormous growth potential for China's golf industry," Chang said.
The strong demand has prompted rapid construction of golf courses, something that some have been critical of because they occupy valuable land resources and use a lot of water.
Grass on golf courses can require as much as half a ton of water for every square meter annually.
"An 18-hole golf course, which usually occupies a total grass area of 300,000 to 400,000 sq m, could probably use 150,000 to 200,000 tons of water a year," said Han Liebao, executive deputy director of the golf education and research center at the Beijing Forestry University.
In 2004, the State Council forbade the construction of new golf courses. However, the ban has been violated and hundreds of new golf courses have emerged during the past seven years. Most are euphemistically called sports or leisure clubs.
In June this year, 11 Chinese ministries collectively ordered new checks on all golf courses to prevent illegal land use and seizures and to ensure no loss of farmland in China.

Fan arrested after throwing hot dog at Woods
SAN MARTIN, California - A fan who threw a hot dog at Tiger Woods and missed during Sunday's final round of the Frys.com Open was arrested by local police, officials said.
As Woods lined up a 19-foot birdie putt at the par-three seventh hole, his 16th of the day, the man ran onto the edge of the green at CordeValle Golf Club shouting: "Tiger, Tiger" before hurling the hot dog into the air.
The man never got closer than 40 feet to Woods, according to Dan Diggins, the tournament's head of security.
He immediately fell to the ground and allowed himself to be arrested. He was then escorted off the course.
"I turned around and the hot dog was in the air," Woods told reporters after signing off with a three-under-par 68. "I guess he wanted to be in the news.
"I was kind of focusing on my putt when he started yelling. Looked like he wanted to be arrested really because he laid on the ground, put his hands behind his back and turned his head."
India's Arjun Atwal, who played with Woods in the final round, described the incident as one of the most bizarre he had seen on a golf course.
"That guy could have got shot, the way he ran out with that hot dog," Atwal said after closing with a 67. "The cops there could have thought it was something else.
Atwal said the hot dog flew across Tiger's putting line.
"The bun kind of landed right where he (the man) was," Atwal said. "Just the dog flew out."

How much do you know about tennis
Tennis is a sport usually played between two players (singles) or between two teams of two players each (doubles). Each player uses a racket that is strung to strike a hollow rubber ball covered with felt over a net into the opponent's court. Tennis is an Olympic sport and is played at all levels of society at all ages. The sport can be played by anyone who can hold a racket, including people in wheelchairs.
The modern game of tennis originated in Birmingham, England in the late 19th century as "lawn tennis" which has close connections to various field/lawn games as well as to the ancient game of real tennis. Up to then, "tennis" referred to the latter sport: for example, in Disraeli's novel Sybil (1845), Lord Eugene De Vere announces that he will "go down to Hampton Court and play tennis. As it is the Derby [classic horse race], nobody will be there".After its creation, lawn tennis spread throughout the upper-class English-speaking population before spreading around the world.
The rules of tennis have not changed much since the 1890s. Two exceptions are that from 1908 to 1961 the server had to keep one foot on the ground at all times, and the adoption of the tie-break in the 1970s. A recent addition to professional tennis has been the adoption of electronic review technology coupled with a point challenge system, which allows a player to challenge the line (or chair) umpire's call of a point. Players have unlimited opportunities to challenge provided the challenges made are correct. However, once three incorrect challenges are made in a set, they cannot challenge again until the next set. If the set goes to a tie break, players are given one additional opportunity to challenge the call. This electronic review, currently called Hawk-Eye, is available at a limited number of high-level ATP and WTA tournaments.
Tennis is enjoyed by millions of recreational players and is also a hugely popular worldwide spectator sport, especially the four Grand Slam tournaments (also referred to as the "Majors"): the Australian Open played on hard courts, the French Open played on red clay courts, Wimbledon played on grass courts, and the US Open played also on hard courts.

Let's see a brand watch named Hans Wilsdorf
Hans Wilsdorf founded the company we now know as Rolex in 1905. Born in Kulmbach, Germany in 1881, the company, Wilsdorf & Davies, was based in London. By 1908 it had become one of the leading watch companies in the UK. It was in this year that he coined the name Rolex.
Official Chronometer Certification was awarded to Rolex in 1910 from the "Bureau Officiel" in Switzerland, the first time this had ever been given to a wristwatch. This was to be the first of many accolades awarded to the watch, including the Class A Precision from the Kew Observatory in 1914.
In 1926 the Rolex Oyster was released. It was the first wristwatch to be considered waterproof, proven a year later when the watch was worn by the swimmer Mercedes Gleitze in his successful bid to cross the English Channel. This was beneficial to Wilsdorf whom had sponsored the event and gained considerable exposure for his new Oyster Watch. Wilsdorf recognised the importance of advertising and marketing his creation in order to gain publicity and prestige.
1931 saw the creation of the Perpetual Rotor, a mechanism now seen as the basis for self-winding movements. In the following years Rolex released the first Oyster Perpetual Ladydate (1954) the GMT Master with dual time zone function (1955) and the first Day-Date (1956).
Andre Heiniger took over the company following the death of Hans Wildorf on 06 July 1960. Rolex continued to invent and innovate in terms of technical skill and style throughout the 2nd half of the century. The Sea-dweller (1967) was certified as reaching depths of up to 1,220 metres making it the choice for Professional Divers - a point that was quickly adopted in advertising the model. The Explorer II (1978) and Cosmograph Daytona (1988) were also released to international waiting lists securing Rolex as one of the worlds most prestigious watch brands.

Milan
Being a memeber of AC Milan win goal of the season is of course. But from current rossoneri in the League after the performance of this season from the very beginning they have left behind on the road. In the first five rounds in the Serie a has been, Milan only one game of victory, only a poor 5 credits in the points standings, such a bad performance is plunged horizons. Just a summer time, Allegri team what's the matter?
Perhaps to you first think of the rossoneri in the less successful foreign aid plans this summer, especially in the free release midfielder Andrea Pirlo after the brain, Milan midfielder reinforcement is very limited, even can be said to be quite bad. Gagliani, which has always claimed that substitute Andrea Pirlo "Mr x" has failed to appear, eventually just rushed from Liverpool on loan to Aquila. Such a foreign aid it man watch is very confused, you want to know this summer will Andrea Pirlo put Milan will go, just because the boss Allegri to Andrea Pirlo midfield defense enough hardness to the, future planning and construction of Andrea Pirlo out of the team, so that only one of the most trustworthy Ministers to Juventus. That reason Milan should be introduction of offense and defense both in midfield player, filled vacancies left by Andrea Pirlo. Milan in the end, however, introduce a worse defensive, attacking organizational capacity is inferior to Andrea Pirlo of Aquila, it was lifting a practice of high-rise in Milan, I really don't know what the intention. Looking back at abandoned by Milan's Andrea Pirlo, was manifested in Juve's splendor. New season performance of the old woman was under the leadership of Andrea Pirlo is extremely strong, upper whorl League at home after beating Milan, are steady take up I'm going to mail header name is located. In midfielder Andrea Pirlo is not just on scheduling your organization has maintained a very high level, was also surprised to find this season is Andrea Pirlo in the defensive end of the performance is great progress, tackling the number of even the highest in the forefront of the whole team. So, we can see that everyone for Andrea Pirlo will not defend is a rather outdated concept. Believe see Andrea Pirlo after such a stunning performance, Allegri bowels is bound to regret the green.
Take a look at Milan's midfield now configured, we will know why would they have such a bad start for the new season. Rossoneri today this axis in addition to the older Boateng, Alberto Aquilani, Nocerino these three people are under 30 years old, remaining players are more than 30 +, 35 years old veteran almost like Clarence Seedorf was a game to play full 90 minutes. Such a serious aging midfielder, could give Allegri choice is not much. So it is conceivable that Milan midfield this session there was a large problem for the new season, the team want to achieve a good result naturally impossible.
Faced with such a predicament, Milan had begun in the winter transfer period to reinforcing the team's midfield. From the current situation, Milan, depending on the card card or invincible attachment, they want during the winter months trying to buy back the former King of the San Siro. Such a plan has been declared in Milan, but they obviously frustrated, because they had missed the introduction of Kaka, the best time. Rossoneri had had the opportunity to introduce this summer in the Kaka, after all, at that time Brazil King of bonawu in a very difficult situation, Mourinho could not always reused Kaka does at one point faced this transfer. Milan and Real Madrid even made contact, but helpless transfer fee there are large differences between the two sides, Kaka has not left the bonawu. But with the new Spanish Prime Division broke out of the season, everyone surprise finding out after the injury of Kaka, strong back. The world player of the past, proven history of Real Madrid this season, both in the UEFA Champions League and in the Primera Liga, Brazil are well played. Kaka with continued scoring and assists again to win back the confidence of Mourinho, who himself had also returned to Real Madrid's starting lineup. Now such a situation, Milan winter wanted brought in from Real Madrid's Kaka nearly impossible. So Milan once again because only their own in the summer of uncertainty, and sadly missed on midfielder reinforcement opportunities.
Milan failed to the team this summer in old midfielder strongly reinforced, the negative lead of foreign aid is now such a situation, so when we see that Milan new start to the season appears so bad it is not surprising.
Perhaps to you first think of the rossoneri in the less successful foreign aid plans this summer, especially in the free release midfielder Andrea Pirlo after the brain, Milan midfielder reinforcement is very limited, even can be said to be quite bad.
Football news
This season broke out so far, AC Milan performance can only be described like shit. Five rounds before war, blue black Legion was just poor 4 credits, created the team history the worst start in nearly 28 years. Now this mess in the first year, most of the fans and the press is to former coach Gian Piero Gasperini who spearhead. It is led by head coach of the stubborn, making inter League from the start, falling behind. Were it not for his thickheaded of not using that set of 343 formation in inter will not work, as well as disused sineide, Pazzini retards move both the core, inter will not be reduced to such a position now.
Inter fans will push the blame to Gian Piero Gasperini was also can understand, in particular, his successor, Claudio Ranieri took office will help blue black Legion for a wave of offensives of two consecutive victories, unless the upper whorl League black lost to Naples by court, maybe inter consecutive victories at the momentum continues. So so much contrast, nature is so that everyone can easily see which is better.
Admittedly, Gian Piero Gasperini limited coach capacity is indeed causing the inter now the main reason for such a bad situation. But a more profound reason bound inter for progress is the real culprit. Members from last season is already clearly felt this, serious aging lineup of blue black Legion, is the team is currently the biggest problems encountered. Check out inter's personnel structure, besides Pazzini, sineide, Mota in the player for these three people are under 30 years old, the rest of the main forces are over the age of 30 veterans. Particularly the latter defence, central defender Lucio and Samuel were the main force to 34 years old, left Chivu 31, Maicon to the right of the age of 30, on the bench also have 35 senior players like Cordoba. A line of defence like a nursing home, what about reassuring. As for inter in the frontcourt is also no better there, JAVIER ZANETTI, cambiasso, Forlan, Diego Milito, Dejan Stankovic these blue important forces of the black Legion, all are 30+ players. But now the Inter Milan, is still counting on some of these veterans were able to in the third line has a phenomenal play, after all available manpower under Claudio Ranieri that's all. So when these veterans ' strength was gradually weakened, Inter Milan's competitiveness naturally collapsed.

Who is the best in PGTI Players Championship
Jyoti Randhawa lifted his first trophy after a gap of two and a half years as he brought all his experience to the fore to triumph in trying conditions at the PGTI Players Championship played at the Classic Golf Resort. Gurgaon-based Randhawa returned an even par 72 in round four on Friday to end up with a tournament total of 11 under 277. Manav Jainis two under 70 in the final round helped him claim secondplace at 10 under 278.
Jyoti Randhawas (69-66-70-72) final round effort of 72 was good enough to earn him his sixth title on the Aircel PGTI on a high-scoring day. The seasoned campaigner stuck to his task with three birdies and three bogeys in the fourth round even as the overnight rain made life difficult for all the professionals.
Randhawa, who led by two strokes at the end of round three earlier in the morning, was on level terms with Manav Jaini with just two holes to go. Jyoti then holed a crucial six-footer for par to go ahead on the 17th as Jaini, who was playing one group ahead, dropped a bogey on the same hole. Jyoti finally drove home the advantage after the two golfers made par on the last hole.
Randhawa, an eight-time winner on the Asian Tour, said, This is a highly-satisfying victory as it was one of the toughest final rounds I have ever played. I played 53 holes over the last two days and that almost drained all my energy. I had to focus hard as I didnt sleep well last night. To add to this the course conditions were quite tough due to the overnight rain. It was pretty difficult to recover from the rough. I therefore knew that even a score of 72 will do the job for me.
I putted extremely well under pressure, especially on the 17th, which was the turning point for me. This week has been an ideal preparation for my next event in Switzerland. Ill now look to carry this form forward.
Manav Jaini (69-68-71-70) of Delhi shot the best score of the day, a two under 70, to end up in second place. His final round featured four birdies and two bogeys. Jaini was the only player in the tournament who shot four sub-par rounds.
Delhis Himmat Singh Rai (69-70-68-73), who was placed second after the completion of round three earlier in the day, secured third place with an overall score of eight under 280.

Golf introduction
Golf is a sport you play outdoors, under the sun, among scattered bushes in fairways while the cool breeze from the ocean resonate your desire to hit the ball straight forward to the waiting hole. It is a wonderful game, why can’t it be? You have both the pleasure and the leisure – pleasure from winning in a game played by masters, and leisure from the abundant foliage of charmed valleys where the game is played. Add to that the opportunity of rubbing elbows with the rich, the famous and the eccentric!
Golf is a game in which a ball is struck with a club from a prepared area, known as the "teeing ground", across fairway and rough to a second prepared area, which has a hole in it, known as the "putting green". The object of the game is to complete what is known as a hole by playing a ball from the teeing ground into the hole on the putting green in the fewest possible number of strokes. A "round of golf' consists of playing 18 such holes.
There are basically two forms of play, one which is decided by holes won and lost (match play) and the other which is decided by the total number of strokes taken to complete the round (stroke play).
There are three important principles to remember when playing golf:
Play the course as you find it. Play the Ball as it lies.
And if you can't do either, do what's fair."
To do what's fair you need to know the Rules. The following is a summary of the Rules of Golf, simplified where possible.
